View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You deployed two or more sites in a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 environment.
  • You change the federation route for a single site to another Edge or Edge pool in Lync Server 2010 Topology Builder.
  • You publish the topology.
  • The federation routes for all sites are changed as expected.
In this scenario, you do not receive a notification message about this behavior.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following cumulative update:
2670358 Description of the cumulative update for Lync Server 2010, Administrative Tools: February 2012

After the update is installed, the following message displays when you change the federation route for a site:

Warning: All sites will use the same federation route. If you have multiple sites, we recommend that you configure a Director pool at one site as the federation route and then specify the Director pool as the next hop for the Edge pool at that same site.
Note This update only introduces a notification message that describes the existing behavior. When the federation route for a site is changed, the other sites are still changed accordingly.
